Living Committed in Community

Our mission is to put on display the true hope of Jesus. One of our key values that will help us accomplish our mission is living relentless in prayer. To live out of this value we want to institute Thursdays as important corporate day of Prayer and Fasting for True Hope Collister.  On these days we unite our voices around a central theme connected to our vision and pray together in an effort to discern God’s will for our church.

This week we focus our prayer on Living Committed in Community.

Today’s Scripture: Acts 2:42-47

Focus: Committed in Community

Fasting: Consider fasting a meal and utilizing that time to pray specifically through this guide.

Read: Acts 2:42-47

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Reflect: The believers in Acts exemplify devotion to fellowship, eating together and meeting each others needs in a deep and intentional way. Why is God calling us to this level of community? Why is it so important for us to live connected in this way?

Pray: Our God given design is to live committed in community. Think of a significant relationship that is life giving to you and provides what Acts 2 explains. Pray for that individual right now.  Thank God for the gift they are in your life.

Read: Acts 2:42-47 again.

Reflect & Journal: What piece of this passage is the most important for you to live out right now? Which of these elements is the biggest need in your life? How is God calling you to be this kind of community to others?

Pray: Ask the Lord to empower us to live as family, serve others within and outside of our church family, and to be unified in living out God’s mission to put on display the true hope of Jesus.

Pray over True Hope Collister: Pray over our future church plant in the valley. We are praying for the leaders, people called to go and a location to plant within the next 5 years.
